HCF Members Pilot Program 

HCF is currently running pilot programs where HCF members are fully reimbursed for there participation in the GLA:D program. The aim of this program is to aid members in seeking early intervention supporting the health of the hip and knee joints.  HCF members must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the reimbursement. 

  • They have held eligible hospital cover for at least 12 months.

  • Their hospital cover includes joint replacement surgery for at least 2 months.

  • Their premiums are up to date.

  • They meet clinical eligibility criteria.

Clinical Eligibility

  • 18 years or older.

  • Have a diagnosis of symptomatic hip or knee osteoarthritis that is likely to require a joint replacement surgery in the upcoming few years, as assessed by an GP or Orthopedic surgeon.

  • Not have had a total or partial hip or knee joint replacement surgery.

  • Not have participated in the GLA:D program in previous 2 years.

  • Not have participated in the Osteoarthritis Healthy Weight For Life program in the pervious 2 years.


Once the above criteria is meet HCF will fully reimburse your participation in the GLA:D program. For those who who do not meet the above criteria you are still able to join the GLA:D program at Simply Stronger. There are also rebates available through other private health insurances and Medicare.
